The Christopher P. Dunne Foundation is partnered with Recycle That!
Please consider donating your used books, CDs, DVDs, clothing, linens and other textiles. It's good for the environment, the local community and helps us enhance the lives of young adults with disabilities.
DID YOU KNOW?
The average US citizen throws away 70 pounds of textiles every year.
Over 2.5 billion pounds of textile waste (clothing, shoes, purses, towels, etc) is diverted from landfills each year by recycling.
45% of donated clothing is re-wearable and can be used by people all over the world.
Even worn or torn clothing and single shoes can be repurposed or recycled into new uses.
The US has lagged behind Europe Union (EU) for decades in recycling efforts, and that the EU has mandated textile recycling since 1993.
HOW ARE RECYCLED TEXTILES USED?
REDUCE consumer waste by redistributing materials vs. new manufacturing
REUSE products through domestic retail or wholesale outlets or by exporting it to developing countries - particularly clothing.
RECYCLE products to transform them for additional uses, such as turning non-wearable garments and towels into industrial wiping cloths, or material fibers into insulation, stuffing and upholstry padding.
Our Recycle That bin is located on the grounds of Breakheart Reservation, 177 Forest Street in Saugus, MA 01906.
Enriching the lives of young adults with disabilities & their families.
